Nine Months!

I feel like I was just posting her 8 month post...oh wait...I was!

Here's what's going on in Lilly's world these days:

•I'm guessing this little chunk is somewhere in the 19-20 pound range these days.  Those thighs are getting cuter by the day! :)

•Lilly has definitely started the "ma-ma" and "da-da" more, but I don't think she has any clue what she is saying or who she is calling for!

•Lilly has not been sleeping well, so neither have mommy and daddy!  She is now a candidate for tubes, so we're crossing our fingers that this will help her get some relief.

•Lilly continues to eat some jar food, but she prefers our food.  We've been trying that a little more, and since we have, she doesn't really want anything to do with baby food.  We'll see how this goes!

•In the past few days, Lilly has started standing on her own.  She isn't quite to the point where she can get up to a standing position from the ground, but she most certainly will stand there if you set her down.  It's insane!

•Lilly is wearing size 6-12 month clothes, 9 month clothes, and some 12 month clothes. Like all things, it depends on the brand and the actual clothing. She is still wearing a size 3 diaper.

•Lilly has also had to have breathing treatments every day for at least two times a day. She HATES them, and it is not my most favorite time of the day either. Luckily, she does them at school too so we don't always have to enjoy the "pleasure" of giving them.

We went to a first birthday party this weekend and were faced with the reality that we will be having one of those parties in just three short months!  Every day brings some new thing with Lilly, and we continue to count our blessings daily!

"There is no place like Nebraska..."

The Nebraska fight song is probably one of my most favorite songs ever.  I get goosebumps when I hear it, and it never gets old!  We all know I am football obsessed, and I am so excited it's that time of year again!

This is what our front door looks like.  We also have a garden flag in the front yard.  I LOVE that on Saturdays you can drive down any street in the neighborhood and see almost every house with a Husker flag.  You can also find this N on most people's doors as well!

I also attempted my first deco mesh wreath.  It was kind of a pain, but I do like the way it turned out.  It's on our mantle along with a "Huskers" banner.

We attempted some pictures this weekend before the big game.  I must say, my girls look good in red!

(Yes, she's standing.  More on that in her 9 month post!)

We've also had to add a new team to our list...the Wisner-Pilger Gators.  Crunkle is coaching for the Gators now, so we had to go support him in his coaching debut this past weekend.  The outcome of the game did not turn out so well, but we had a good time and looked good doing it anyway, ha!

SOOOOOOO glad my favorite time of the year is back!!!!

Weekends

I forgot how much I take weekends for granted until I have a summer off and have to return to school.  My first weekend after the first week of school was an instant reminder to me of how much I need to just appreciate what little family time we have during the school year.  Life is CRAZY right now, so it was nice to just spend a couple hours hanging out together at the zoo not worrying about where we had to be, what we had to get done, etc.  This is our afternoon in pictures:

The petting zoo--it grosses me out!

Love my girls!

When did she turn 13?!?

Enjoying our awesome aquarium

Conquering the bridge in the jungle.  She and I had never been able to cross it before for fear of it.  It's this hanging bridge in the jungle of our zoo.  It's also wet due to the waterfall behind it.  Really cool, but really scary.  We did it though!

Just swining in the jungle

Getting ready to head home.  Lainey had done all the walking she could do!
Hooray for weekends and time together!

First Day of School 2012

Lainey moved up to the Pre-K class on August 13th.  Nebraska just changed the cut off date for Kindergarten to July 30th, so Jovan and I had to make the decision as to whether or not we were going to test Lainey in or not.  After talking with several people about it and saying a lot of prayers, we decided that we would not have her tested.  I had to get out of the present day and forget about the fact that this girl has known her letters and sounds since she was two and can read far more than she needs to, and think of "16 year old Lainey".  When thinking of "16 year old Lainey", we decided that we would rather her be the oldest in her class.  All that said, we're in Pre-K this year!  She has two wonderful teachers, and I'm already impressed with all of the cool things they are doing every day.

We decided to do what everyone else in Pinterest land does and start the "When I grow up..." school year pictures.

  • When I grow up I want to be a SUPERHERO!
  • My favorite thing about school is playing outside.
  • My favorite thing about my teachers is when they give me snack.
  • I want to learn how to do the monkey bars.
Obviously she is going to be her Daddy's daughter with her priorities a little skewed from the academic side.  Good thing I have a year to fix that! :)
