See ya, Summer!

Summer has come to an end, and we tried to end it on a bang! I had to be back at work on July 30th, so my summer was cut a little shorter than usual. We spent the last few weeks taking a weekend trip to Kansas City, spending some time at the pool, doing our back to school shopping, and going to my parents' like we always do for the Knox County Fair.

There is a couch I really want from IKEA, and we finally have one within a decent driving distance, so Jovan and I decided we would take an end of summer weekend trip to KC to do a little shopping and have a nice family weekend away. We had never been to IKEA before, and to say we loved it would be an understatement! The fact that you can drop your children off to play while you shop is reason enough to fall in love, not to mention all the cool things they have! We will definitely be back!

About to hit the road!
My parents always gave us "travel money", so we're carrying on the tradition with our littles.
The girls were SO excited to stay in a hotel and that they got their "own" room. Thank you, Embassy Suites, for making our children think they were living large, haha!
No trip to KC is complete without a trip to the AG Store!
We have been asking her to get her ears pierced for years and have been met with much resistance! Her doll, Lanie, got her ears pierced this trip, so we tried to convince her to also. She FINALLY gave in! Yay!
Kansas City was an absolute blast! Jovan and I are planning an adults only trip back there soon!

Jovan's company he works for had their annual company picnic. They had it at a state park close by, and we had a day filled with games, bounce houses, food, swimming, pony rides, and on and on! It was such a well organized and FUN event! I look forward to doing it all again next year!

Ready to swim!
I don't even want to think about all the junk they consumed that day!

We always spend the end of our summer at my parents' house for the Knox County Fair. Nana gets to show off her grandkids, and I get to eat my mom's cooking for a weekend! :) This weekend was especially fun because my cousin and her husband also came up to join in the festivities. We had a blast just hanging around the pool, having fire pits, running, and my favorite part--learning how to shoot a gun!
Learned how to shoot a gun! I may be a little addicted, ha!

School is now back in full force, and I cannot believe how quickly the summer flew by, but I know it will be back before we know it!
