Kindergarten Here We Come!

No matter how much you think you prepare for this day, nothing can really prepaer you for the gammet of emotions felt on this monumentous occasion!  I have had a rough time this summer thinking about/dreading August 12, 2013.  The state of Nebraska changed the Kindergarten cut off age last year to July 31st, therefore leaving Lainey to wait another year to start school.  This has been a blessing and a curse.  A blessing because she has had an additional year to grow and mature, but a curse because she has had this same additional year to become an even better reader!  Bless her teacher's heart! :)

We took Lainey to have a little one-on-one time Sunday before the big day.  We surprised her with a movie date.  She really enjoyed the time with mom and dad without little sis...and we enjoyed it too!

That night we gave Lainey some new pajamas and new books to prepare for the next day.  We read our books and read a sweet little poem that her teacher gave her to read the night before Kindergarten, complete with confetti to place under her pillow.  LOVED it!

The next morning she was up and ready to go!  We went through our morning routine and snapped a few pictures before we left.

We can't help but laugh as we think about what this picture is going to look like 10 years from now! :)

Lilly wanted in on the action too!

Our Circle kids ready to walk to school.  Their faces crack me up!

We live within walking distance of her school, so we were able to walk her to school the first day.  We made it about halfway before I had to carry the backpack for her.  I told her this was a one time deal, since it was really heavy with all of her supplies!

Lainey and her good friend, Elle.  Unfortunately they're not in the same class, but have already planned out how many times they will see each other at recess and lunch, ha!

We requested Lainey's teacher this year.  We had heard great things about her from the neighbors, and she, Lainey, and I all get our hair done at the same place, so we heard great things about her from our hairdresser too! ;)  I know I am already "that parent", and I am okay with that!  Nothing but the best for our girl, right?!?
Mrs. Buchholz
We managed to get her dropped off with no tears from any of us!  She was SOOOO excited to be there, which made it so much easier for us.  She has had a great first three days, and we know she will have a great year!
